These skills are taught for evaluating both teachers school clinicians such as guidance counselors, psychologists, nurses, O.T.s, and P.T.s. Lectures, discussions, in-class exercises including role-play in supervisory situations, case studies and practical experience through critiquing actual videotaped classroom lessons and teacher interview will be an integral part of this course. The materials used in this course are the most current on the market.
By the conclusion of the program the supervisor/evaluator will be able to:
Explain why teacher evaluation is an essential component of teacher professional development designed to improve student achievement.
Use common evaluator terminology across the district for communicating with teachers, school clinicians, and other evaluators.
Gather the data needed to make objective and consistent (inter-rater reliability) judgments about a teacher's performance during short and long observations during both live and remote teaching.
Gather multiple sources of data (including student assessment data) other than classroom observation to assess a teacher's and school clinician performance from both live and remote sessions.
Make objective and calibrated (with inter-rater reliability within and across schools) judgments supported by evidence.
Convert that data into standard, judgment, evidence, impact statement, and recommendation (S.J.E.I.R.) observation write-ups at an introductory mastery level.
Document and communicate with teachers and clinicians judgments about performance using the district's contracted evaluation forms and rubrics.
Use the online paragraph bank to increase inter-rater reliability and save time when documenting teacher performance at the guided practice level.
Use the connection document of observable behaviors to identify the specific observable behaviors related to rubric standards.
Describe the competencies a teacher and school clinician needs for the effective implementation of the district teacher evaluation system.
